On January 13, 2025, Tianjin University hosted the Pre-Launch Meeting and Technical Seminar for the National Key R&D Project "Research on Theories and Key Technologies for Aligning Large Language Models with Pluralistic Values". As the leading institution of the project, Tianjin University has gathered over 30 experts and core team members to discuss the research framework and technical directions.
TJUNLP has achieved remarkable recognition at COLING 2025 held in Abu Dhabi, with Yongqi Leng winning the Best Long Paper Award for his research on multi-task learning in LLMs, while postdoctoral researcher Yuqi Ren, PhD student Renren Jin, Professor Tongxuan Zhang from Tianjin Normal University have received the Outstanding Paper Award for their study on how LLMs mirror cognitive language processing, showcasing their outstanding contributions to NLP and AI interpretability.
On the 19th of January 2024, the Yunnan Provincial Key R&D Program Seminar at Tianjin University highlighted advancements in large-scale neural machine translation models centered on Chinese, exploring multilingual translation, low-resource language solutions, and industrial applications to support digital economy needs.

The first ever international student at TJUNLP: Supryadi from Indonesia presented the paper "Empirical Study on Translating Toxic Sentences with Large Language Models vs. Machine Translation" at the International Conference on Intelligent Multilingual Information Processing (IMLIP) 2024, held on November 16-17, 2024.
